Inovasi Hawa Leather: Teknik Tatah dan Ukir dalam Kerajinan Kulit Asli yang Sukses Tembus Pasar Ekspor, Serta Pengembangan Studio Produksi di Boyolali

: Leather craftsmanship is one of Indonesia’s cultural heritages that carries high artistic value and significant potential for the creative economy (Bekraf, 2019). However, this industry faces challenges such as limited design innovation and restricted access to global markets, particularly for small-scale entrepreneurs. Hawa Leather emerges as a solution by offering handmade leather crafts with a bohemian style that combines traditional techniques with modern design, in line with international consumer lifestyle trends (Katadata Insight Center, 2021). To increase production capacity and strengthen its identity as a globally competitive local brand, Hawa Leather plans to establish a production workshop in Boyolali Regency. Boyolali was chosen due to its potential in high-quality human resources in arts and craftsmanship (BPS Boyolali, 2023), as well as support from the local government’s Boyolali Pro Investment program. This workshop will not only focus on production but also provide training for local communities to produce leather goods that meet export standards. This initiative aligns with Law No. 24 of 2019 on the Creative Economy, which emphasizes the importance of developing an economy rooted in local culture. Through the establishment of this workshop, Hawa Leather aspires to become a tangible example of how a creative industry based on cultural heritage can empower the local economy while sustainably penetrating global markets.
